A note from the Mayor:
Dear Milton,
As we step into 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt wishes for a fantastic year ahead. May this new chapter bring you endless joy. success, and cherished moments with your loved ones.
Together, let us transform our dreams into plans and those plans into remarkable achievements. Here is to good health, happiness, and all the exciting opportunities this year holds for our community.
Speaking of dreams coming to fruition, I am thrilled to share some great news, the Water Resources Development Act of 2024 has passed both houses and now awaits President Biden's signature. After three years of collaboration with Senator Carper and Congresswoman Blunt Rochester's offices, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and state and county officials, I am proud to announce that the Town of Milton is included in the Bill. We are slated to receive up to $5 million for a feasibility study to bolster our resilience against flooding.
Additionally, the Federal Street Water Treatment Plant project is moving forward, with the contract awarded and funding primarily secured through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), a vital resource during the recent pandemic.
Artesian Wastewater is making considerable progress at the Chandler Street Pumping Station. Once that work is complete, they will begin installing a new main to transport wastewater to the nearly finished regional treatment plant on Isaacs Road (SR30). Expect an update when that phase begins. Upon the successful completion of these initiatives, the next step will be the removal of the existing wastewater treatment plant off the Broadkill River.
Conversion of the streetlamps on Mulberry Street to LED lamps has been completed. The residents along Mulberry Street are appreciative of the improvements. The Town is currently in discussion with Delmarva Power to implement similar improvements on the blocks between Bay and Atlantic Avenues, and including Behringer Ave.
Here is to a prosperous 2025, Milton!
Warm regards,
John Collier
